DESIGN 8; 8-stanza Poem, 272 words, Sized to A4
2 of 3 part poetry series
Who Stands Behind the Flag?
‘With the tide we assemble and ready ourselves,
And wait by the ocean as it pushes in tighter.
The outrigger cuts through the liquid blue glass—
Our eyes are fixed sharp for the reef and its rider.
Our Hands grip tight to spear and line;
salt whipping at our skin has set the tone.
We read the waves like a sacred scroll;
where no one dares hunt the sea alone.
